Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients . The hospital is undergoing significant  investment and development including a new surgical ward, a new main entrance (allowing expansion of A&E services),  a new Academic Centre and a planned new Cancer Centre.

Milton Keynes is the fastest growing and most successful city in the country (visit http://www.destinationmiltonkeynes.co.uk/) for which we provide Emergency Medicine (including Paediatrics) from minor injury to major trauma, Critical Care, Cancer Services, General Surgery & Medicine, Women’s & Children Services (including Maternity, Paediatrics & Neonatal) and Renal Services.

The Health Service Journal recently named Milton Keynes one of the top performing NHS Trust to work in and we are proud to be rated “good” by the Care Quality Commission.

You can expect a warm welcome, our staff are friendly and welcoming. We listen to each other and work together to embed our Trusts values and behaviors

An exciting opportunity to join our established Ward Senior Nursing Team.

Ward 3 is a 28 bedded female medical ward, we manage a wide range of medical patients, as a nurse on ward 3 you will be exposed to a wide range of medical conditions. We consider ourselves experts in Dementia care, Care of the Complex Older Patient and Discharge Planning.

Working on Ward 3 might not be the easy option but it offers huge rewards for the right person. We believe that nursing on Ward 3 encapsulates everything that makes a good nurse, the demands and challenges are balanced by job satisfaction and the reward that comes with knowing that you made a difference to someone.

We believe in truly multi-disciplinary working and as a team work closely with our consultants and the wider multi-disciplinary team. On ward 3 we believe everyone should have a voice and it is everyone’s role to advocate for the patient.

We are a friendly, supportive and hardworking team and are looking for a pro-active, compassionate, energised, forward thinking nurse to join us.

Our band 6s lead the ward in student support, mentorship and preceptorship and have key areas of responsibility. You will be developed in roster management, staff management and the leadership role.

We can offer excellent development opportunities (our last 2 band 6s went onto band 7 posts!) and will support your educational needs. Milton Keynes University Hospital has educational links with several local universities and are committed to nurse education. If you feel you up to the challenge we would love to meet you.
