Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients . The hospital is undergoing significant  investment and development including a new surgical ward, a new main entrance (allowing expansion of A&E services),  a new Academic Centre and a planned new Cancer Centre.

Job Title: Specialty Doctor

Additional Programmed Activities: 2 (The requirement for you to undertake additional Programmed Activities will be reviewed annually, this role currently attracts an additional 1.24APA)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our dynamic and forward thinking Children’s Services at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as part of on-going investment into the service.

You will join a busy, friendly and developing Children’s Services treating the children of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
This post typical involves working on a resident on call rota, so depending on agreement, this post would normally exceed the basic 10 PA full time contract.

As Children’s Services is a key development area for the Trust, there is an additional Recruitment and retention premia package attached to this post, which consists of:

Financial lump sum:
£5,000 on completion of first years’ service
£6,000 on completion of second years’ service
£7,000 on completion of third years’ service

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital. This allows us to attract, train and retain the best doctors and contribute towards the financial stability of the organisation.

We are proud of our strong links with Oxford University Hospital and through this partnership we are able to offer the exciting opportunity to develop skills in sub-specialties, such as Rheumatology. This will be complimented by a full departmental training program.

The first students arrived on wards in May 2015 and by the beginning of 2017 a medical school building will have been constructed, which will also create exciting opportunities in the future for all staff in the fields of clinical research and education.

This exciting new phase will include opportunities for undergraduate and post graduate teaching, enhanced research facilities. A teaching and research background would be highly advantageous when applying for this position.
