Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients . The hospital is undergoing significant  investment and development including a new surgical ward, a new main entrance (allowing expansion of A&E services),  a new Academic Centre and a planned new Cancer Centre.

Milton Keynes is the fastest growing and most successful city in the country (visit http://www.destinationmiltonkeynes.co.uk/) for which we provide Emergency Medicine (including Paediatrics) from minor injury to major trauma, Critical Care, Cancer Services, General Surgery & Medicine, Women’s & Children Services (including Maternity, Paediatrics & Neonatal) and Renal Services.

The Health Service Journal recently named Milton Keynes one of the top performing NHS Trust to work in and we are proud to be rated “good” by the Care Quality Commission.

We require enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our team as staff nurses to provide dynamic, high quality nursing care to Children, Young People and Babies. We offer the option of either simply choosing your preferred place of work or to be part of our rotational programme across the department – both options will allow you to advance as a highly skilled staff nurse ready for promotion. We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced nurses.

Ward 5 – is a 22 bedded inpatient ward, incorporating a busy Paediatric High Dependency and working here means caring for babies, children and young people from 0-16. Ward 4 is divided into a 6 bedded day surgery unit, Paediatric Day Care and a 24 hour 10 bedded PAU that flexes capacity to meet the ever changing needs of our children. We offer access to expert, evidence based and family centered assessment, treatment and care.

Across every area of the Paediatric Unit we continually strive, as a multi-disciplinary team, to offer high quality, evidenced based and holistic care to all of our children. We believe that we have much to offer any candidate who joins our team. Indeed we recognise that it’s also about you!!

As a Unit we have an active preceptorship and an exciting education programme and we encourage all staff to undertake internal and external courses to ensure their continued development. Opportunities include internal and external study days and University based courses such as Mentorship, Caring for children with Cancer or Diabetes, and Paediatric High Dependency modules.
