Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a replacement post offering 10 programmed activities. Additional programmed activities may be available, subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement.

You will be part of a five Consultant Respiratory Medicine team with an interest in Acute Care, Interventional Respiratory Medicine and Medical Education. You will be responsible for inpatient and outpatient care of Respiratory and General Medical patients. You will have responsibility for a quarter of the Respiratory bed base of 57 beds across two wards with 8 non-HDU NIV beds, and will cross cover your colleagues as and when required. Non-elective activity including clinics will be shared within the five Consultant team and two Senior Specialty Doctors. You will be a part of the general Medical on call at 1 in 24 frequency.
The wider Respiratory team is supported by a team of 12 juniors, 8 ANPs, 1 Physiotherapist, and 3 Physiologists. There is a dedicated visiting Thoracic Surgeon from Harefied Hospital, Oncology and Palliative Care support based locally and excellent links for tertiary care with Oxford, Papworth and The Brompton Hospital. You will have the opportunity to develop an interest in lung cancer, thoracoscopy, endo-bronchial ultrasound, as well as introduce new interventional procedures.
You will be expected to provide specialist respiratory consults in Acute Medicine, Critical Care and in other specialties. An interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and delivery of undergraduate curriculum for University of Buckingham Medical School will be expected, encouraged and duly supported through SPA activity.

The hospital is the premier teaching hospital for the newly created University of Buckingham Medical School. The first students graduated in 2019 and currently all years of medical students are being taught at the hospital. You will be expected to provide specialist respiratory consults in Acute Medicine, Critical Care and in other specialties. An interest and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and delivery of undergraduate curriculum for University of Buckingham Medical School will be expected, encouraged and duly supported.
